Tip 10) The First Church Continues Steadfastly in Prayer

[In the N.T., in the Book of Acts, after the disciples and believers were immersed or baptized with the Holy Spirit, they were steadfast in their prayers.]

[Act 2:41-42 NKJV] 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added... 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

[after the Jewish leaders forbid the followers of Jesus in Jerusalem to proclaim Jesus, Peter and John’s companions prayed this prayer:]

[Act 4:29-31 NKJV] 29 "Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 "by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

[Act 12:5 NKJV] 5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

[In both the O.T. tabernacle/temple worship and in the N.T. early church, prayer is constant. Remember that simply living out God’s presence as you go is a form of constant prayer.]
