The Dead Sea Scrolls date 150-300 years Before Christ and include miraculously preserved portions of 38 out of 39 Old Testament (O.T.) books that some say don't apply to us today. https://www.facsimilefinder.com/facsimiles/dead-sea-scrolls-facsimile
[The word “Testament” means covenant, agreement or contract. I was taught growing up that promises in the Old Testament contract were between God and Israel and were only for the Israelites, and that the church today could only rely on the promises found in the New Testament contract. However, Paul taught that we followers of Jesus have access to the O.T. blessings of Abraham without the curses.]
[Gal 3:13a NKJV] 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law
[The first 5 books of the O.T. called the Law, record the covenants God made with Abraham and his children (the Israelites)]
[Gal 3:13b-14 NKJV] having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who hangs on a tree") [Deu 21:23], 14 that the blessing of Abraham [see Gen 24:1] might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
[We, Gentiles—who are students of Jesus—get the promised blessings without having to perfectly keep the law, and without the curses for not keeping the law because Jesus kept the O.T law for us perfectly, then took the curse for us not keeping the law. Now we keep the law out of gratitude for this free gift and through the power of the Holy Spirit.],
[Mat 5:17 NKJV] 17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
[Rom 13:10 NKJV] 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love [is] the fulfillment of the law.
[The law is fulfilled in the perfect love of Jesus so the blessings of the old covenant with Abraham and his children—including the covenant with Moses—can come to the Gentiles, as well as the Jews who follow Jesus, without the curses! That is real love from a Father than knows how to give good gifts.]
[Mat 7:11 NKJV] 11 "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
[So yes, we CAN pray for the good things promised in the O.T. such as healing, peace, prosperity to the children of Israel in the Old Testament.]
