[I used to suffer from anxiety attacks. I believe they were related to the loss of my mom when I was in 7th grade. I passed out one-time in our prayer group while I was listening to someone praying for someone with cancer, and remember seeing flashes of memories about my mother. They called an ambulance, but I was fine and recovered before they got there. One of the ways I tried to fight the attacks was to memorize and recite the following passage.]
[Phl 4:4-8 NKJV] 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord [is] at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things [are] noble, whatever things [are] just, whatever things [are] pure, whatever things [are] lovely, whatever things [are] of good report, if [there is] any virtue and if [there is] anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
[To fight anxiety, I also began to live out praising God for the things I am thankful for, and others who needed prayer. This helped me significantly as well by taking my mind off myself and placing it on others. However, on occasion for no apparent reason an attack might come on at work or in the middle of the night. Twice while in my car I would shout “Halleluiah Jesus, Halleluiah Yeshua!” and sing praises at the top of my lungs. I haven’t had an attack in years, and I believe it is speaking God’s Word that has helped me to finally defeat it! Praise God! I am also spending more time in God’s Word and Biblical teaching than I ever have in the past which I believe helps!]
[Jos 1:9 NKJV] 9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God [is] with you wherever you go."
[By my count, the NKJV says 258 times: no fear (2 times), fear not (10), do not fear (42), do not be afraid (49), nor be dismayed (18), do not be anxious (5), dread not (7), be of good courage (21), be courageous (4), do not be discouraged (3), be valiant (25).Praise God that His Word frees us from fear when we renew or mind with it.Get in the Word and reprogram your brain to be free from fear and anxiety. It works!]
